This 1950s boned strapless brassiere from the Victoria & Albert Museum has underwired cups that are interlined with rubberised padding. Made from black elastic and nylon with metal hook fastenings and offering little in the way of comfort, this architectural foundation garment was designed to accentuate the sizable bust and cleavage highly fashionable in the 1950s.
