Black Narcissus, 3 Nuns & Their Handbags (detail)

The Powell & Pressburger Film and a trip to India last year resulted in this series of works. The Nun hangings are based on Buddhist Thankas, the faces of the nuns are captured in moments of ambiguous passion. The handbags are printed with Priestley 'matinee idols' and Rosary prayers hidden behind zippers and veils.
