"Bottle Growth"

The temporary beach installation is the latest in a series of artworks that are created in West Cumbria in response to threats to maritime environments from man made pollution.The Cumbrian headland juts into the sea and consequently,plastic waste is washed up in abundance especially after stormy weather.Although,plastic pollution is a serious concern ,I often try to install a playful element in the construction of the artworks.The bottles sprout out from an oil container which is itself balanced on a washed up traffic cone.The installation lasted just a few hours before succumbing to the tide.
