I was inspired to create this box set in a cabinet through a visit to the Lapworth Museum, University of Birmingham, where they had recreated a ‘spar box’.
My starting point was the list in the museum that stated the crystal forms of the seven crystal systems: cubic, tetragonal, orthorhombic, monoclinic, triclinic, hexagonal and trigonal; I investigated each, and then took inspiration from one of the crystals related to each form - Galena, Apatite, Barite, Corundum, Zircon & Chalcanthite - along with their crystal formulas – basic chemistry for some…..
