In the context of image-making, "capriccio" (or capricci) refers to a style or technique that blends imagination with reality, creating images that may include fantastical or non-realistic elements while maintaining a sense of coherence and visual harmony. The term comes from the Italian word capriccio, meaning "whim" or "fantasy," and historically refers to a genre of painting in which artists depicted imaginary scenes or dramatic combinations of architectural ruins, landscapes, or figures. These elements could be blended freely, not bound by strict naturalism.
