The temporary installation is a response to my current on going project ,focused on exploring an old Victorian dump situated off the harbour in Whitehaven, West Cumbria. The subterranean site deposits regular tideline offerings onshore such as ceramic, glass ,old pennies, bottletops and cutlery .I have amassed a large haul of this treasure in order to create future gallery installations and am drawn to the poignancy of these fragments, reflecting on them as ordinary objects that were such a necessity in the poor Industrial households in West Cumbria. For this installation,I adhered enlarged photocopies of the fragments onto a boulder and placed them like jigsaw pieces into the pattern of a tideline. The artwork will give me ideas and inform future work and processes.
