An Ontology of Making, Russell Moreton.
Clay is not a medium through which ideas are represented. It is a mode of thinking. Ceramic is the provisional chamber in which this thinking gathers. Its walls do not contain meaning but hold open a field of correspondence between body, material, atmosphere, fire and time. Every inscription, aperture, weathering and deposit is a proposition emerging from this reciprocity. The work does not illustrate philosophy; it practises one. It is a practical philosophy in which making is the condition of thought, and thought remains answerable to the sensate intelligence of clay.
Inscriptions, handwriting, cognitive connections across visual art materialisms.
Gathered readings, walking across holloways and embodied dispositions, surfaces/inseparable cartographies of embodied experiences.
Undisciplined knowledge enables and sustains actions, gestures of a post disciplinary field.
Inseparable categories (containers and bodies) and their contents.
