Clothes-Sill

By  Lucy Brown 2017
Sculpture. Window-sill, 1960s -1980s clothing, wadding and vintage lipsticks Installed at The Grange Gallery. Rottingdean for Red; A Fabrica Peer Review exhibition 2017 Clothes-Sill explores edges, boundaries and entrance points. The selected garments were carefully folded and arranged to mimic a shelf from a wardrobe; possibly belonging to Bluebeard….. The starting point for the garment selection was based around the lipstick palette of Red. The three lipsticks in the work were ‘Bed of Roses’ Helena Rubenstein, ‘Pink Ivory’ Max Factor and ‘Hot Amber’ Dorothy Gray . The lips, like the window, are an opening to the inside and outside.
