Clowns

A sculpture of three clowns climbing up a pile of old furniture, made from waste materials collected from a shopping mall. The sculpture was created in situ with so that members of the public could watch me work and ask questions. The sculpture was commissioned by Festival Place shopping centre as part of Basingstoke Festival. Materials included furniture, tin cans, plastic bags, broken umbrellas, plastic bottles, posters and leaflets. Alongside this I also ran a workshop day for teachers, who then went back to their schools and created their own clown sculptures, which were exhibited in an empty shop during the festival.

Seven Wasted Men

Recycled sculpture. One of two large kinetic sculptures produced during 'Art of Waste', a Year of the Artist residency. A makeshift studio was set up in a shipping container at Freeman's Common Community Recycling Centre, and the sculptures were made from objects sourced from the household waste available at the site.
