The piece (made during my residency at Watts Gallery) was situated on the grass near the main gallery entrance. It uses three lines from Christina Rossetti’s poem Goblin Market. I have tried here to evoke something of the fascination, movement and menace of the Goblin Men. Squeezing, stretching and curving the words to produce a tantalisingly legible representation of their advance. I created a vector based drawing of the text in order to manipulate it digitally and create an image. This proved to be a fruitful process, opening up new ways to develop the idea and better understand the relationship between text and form. Height 1.6m
