Conductor was a site specific installation made in response to wapping Hydraulic Pumping station and commissioned for the opening of the building as a gallery and restaurant in October 2000. The work remained in situ for 6 months. The viewer walked through a door that took them from the ground level of the Engine Room and aped onto a suspended steel staircase from where they looked into the Boiler House. The space opened up as the floor fell away by a storey below and the ceiling remained 8 meters above.
