Consume.

By  Tim Pugh 2021
The mixed media artwork was created on a background boulder at low tide on South beach ,Whitehaven,West Cumbria in May 2021.Shopping trolleys are sometimes pushed over the cliff edge onto the beach and for this experiment,I took an image of a detached trolley basket and adhered the photograph onto a boulder. The image was of an earlier artwork I had created using plastic.I then added actual ‘real’ pieces of plastic next to the photograph to convey the illusion that the plastic was flowing out of the photograph and onto the rock, blurring the distinction between 2D and 3D.The aim of the artwork was to illustrate the links between over consumption and seemingly out of control plastic packaging that’s accompanies consumerism .
