Coral Reef

Plaster casts of discarded bubble wrap. Coral bleaching occurs when the reef ecosystem is under stress from environmental changes such as increased water temperatures, overfishing, exposure caused by low tides, pollutants and acidification from increased CO2. Coral can recover from bleaching, but if negative environmental conditions persist then death occurs.
