Data Blocks

By Robin Tarbet 2022 - 2024

A grid of 100 individual relief sculptures cast in concrete from a collection of floppy disks discarded from a city of London office.

The texture and surface detail of each piece is formed by casting concrete directly onto floppy disks themselves making each one unique. The data within the obsolete disk will forever remain a mystery as it's content is destroyed by the casting process, but the fine detail of the concrete picks up a trace of the labels, hints of pen marks and sometimes even finger prints of the previous user from the plastic facade.
