DATAMOSH: Wasp Psychology

By  Paul R Jones 2016
For Moving Minds Exhibition at Oriel Sycharth, DATAMOSH proposed a sculptural form that consisted of a large ‘termite mound’ like structure made from tin foil - so called the ‘Cognitive Tower’, together with a video monitor against a wall, representing a ‘rupture’ through which we are able to witness the ‘Wasp Psychology’, consisting of a looped single channel video piece with sound. During the opening of the exhibition two ‘stoners’ interacted with this structure, slowly peeling away the foil, lost in a state of ‘exotic puzzlement’. They appeared to be both unplugged and plugged in, uncoupled and coupled between the ‘Cognitive Tower’ and the rupture. The residue of the stoners interactions with the tower, in the form of minute pieces of foil that had been manipulated to various degrees by them, became part of the sculpture for the duration of the show. http://www.glyndwr.ac.uk/OrielSycharthGallery/
