Covid Rememberance Memorial at Nottingham Road Cemetery Derby. The sculpture was commissioned by Derby City Council as a benchmark by which people could remember Lockdown and those they lost. The sculpture was designed in consultation with youth groups , local primary and secondary Schools and The Friends of Nottingham Road Cemetery as well as Derby City Councillors and staff. The design reflects the good and bad memories of the Covid Pandemic not forgetting that people are still suffering from Covid and its symptoms.
Galvanized Forged and laser cut steel with Bronze and Acrylic inserts. The sculpture also forms a seat with countries of the world within the design. The bronze inserts were made by participants in the consultation programme. Inspired by the Gothic Architecture of the Chapel of Rest which the sculpture stands against.
