Reworking of Dali’s dream scene from Hitchcock’s Spellbound; Gregory Peck’s character is an amnesiac posing as psychiatrist Dr Edwardes, who might or might not be an inmate of the asylum. Scenically drawing heavily on the idea of the uncanny. Dali’s original dream sequence ran to 20 minutes edited down finally to 4 short excerpts.
Hitchcock’s fascination with film making in the smallest possible space proposes the idea of a compact set piece that allows me to play with the Freidman argument of sculpture becoming no more than theatrical props against Judd’s ideas of specific objects.
