Specific to the site of a nationally acclaimed agricultural college, "Echoes of the opened earth" was commissioned to introduce public art to the area. Formally, it is composed of a series of planes, each with a half twist, and arranged in a tilted fan-like repetition, held by a single sloping spine. When on turf an illusion of embedding is achieved. The dominant horizontal elements bring this relationship with the earth into focus. Derived from agricultural machinery, it functions as a symbol of the relationship of human intervention with the environment as a positive process.
