Piattoli (1720-1788) was trained in a female painting school in Florence. She married a painter and painted religious subjects as well as portraits and combined the two genres. Though little is known about the artist herself, several of her paintings are in the Florentine collections, including this self portrait that currently hangs in the Vasari corridor of the Uffizi.
