Everlasting and Impermanent
By
Alexis Rago
2013
Made on a human size scale this ceramic piece emanates sounds recorded
during its making. Synchronously, external sounds of a replica of the work
document its destruction. Sited in the midst of the broken replica the work is
sensitive to vibrations: gently swaying in response to significant movement, a
sense of precarious fragility engendering caution and reverence engages the
viewer in a choreographed relationship with the work.
