Feathered Hills

By Doris Rohr 2011

Brian Rutledge

Collage which holds an older sketch of a walk in Cumbria as memento . Collage of sketch, drawing from memory, exploring dis-location and power of memory and desire. The drawing/ collage links images of past landscapes experienced in place with a different place from where the memory is evocatively re-drawing and assembled. Feathers of cockatiels as tokens of the presence poetically link the now with the past. Trompe l'oeil of feather punning image and reality - mimesis, memory and melancholy. This piece has been exhibited in the group exhibition 'All over the place' and is recorded in the accompanying catalogue which is available to buy from the Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery University of Leeds. The original is framed in a box frame and is with the artist. Purchase is negotiable but buyer will need to arrange shipping on top of below purchase price.
