Feel Me (2015)

Dimensions
500

In 1966 England won the World Cup. At about the same time a Brazilian band called Os Mutantes (The Mutants) formed. The Mutants were part of a musical movement called Tropicalia, the title of a Barbican festival celebrating Brazilian culture which included an exhibition of Brazilian artists known collectively as Neoconcretism. FEEL ME echoes some of their concerns. A reason for using hazard tape originates from seeing visitors to an art exhibition walk all the way round it, rather than step over it. A white cube amplifies, signs in bold state DO NOT TOUCH so it seems only natural to avoid the hazard that is hazard tape. However for Feel Me at The Birley it’s OK to touch, to handle…it’s OK to…Feel Me .
