Fließendes Licht

Fließendes Licht (The Flowing Light) follows the menstrual cycle across 27 painted panels, one for each day.

The work is about movement: how hormones shift, how the body changes, how mood rises and falls across the month. The upper panels are warm, the lower panels deeper, darker, heavier. The descent between them is the shift — the days before a period, when the body turns inward. Bodies fold into one another across the panels, so no figure is ever separate from the next.

The work and its title are inspired by Mechthild of Magdeburg, who wrote from the body.
