Flutter Earthwards

A gold leafed sycamore seed is suspended in a scientific glass vessel, which sits on a mirror. Text around the base of the glass reads 'and watch it flutter earthwards?' which is the final line from the poem The Icarus Gene by Anna Crowe. Work made in response to the natural history collection of the Bell Pettigrew Museum in St Andrews, and to Anna's poem inspired by objects in the collection. Bell Pettigrew was a Victorian collector with a particular interest in flight.
