Painted in oil and egg tempera, this painting shows a group of children in what appears to be a room with a dressing table, rocking- horse, curtains and ladder but, on closer inspection, the room melts into a landscape with trees and a ship. One of the figures is holding up a golden chain, one is opening a curtain, one is walking away dragging a bag behind her and one is sitting staring straight at us.
