Hairy Hand (with plaits)

By Marianne Walker 2018
Graphite pencil on sculpted paper clay, 2018. The drawing of hair on this hand first resembled fur, but after walking through the Ancient Egyptian section of the British Museum and seeing the plaited wigs represented on the sarcophagi I changed my drawing to resemble them. This hairy hand has been processed through the forces of civilisation.
