Half Crowns in their Petticoats Reloaded is an oral history project at The Exchange, University of Birmingham. Part of Unlocking the Vaults, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, the collection revisits artist Elly Clarke’s 2012=13 Oral History Project, Half Crowns in their Petticoats, featuring oral histories recorded both in 2012/13 by Elly and additional recordings from 2025/ 2026.
The collection explores memories, histories, and personal connections to the Birmingham Municipal Bank, the head office of which has been redeveloped as The Exchange, the University of Birmingham’s city-centre home.
The oral histories are accessible in the building via QR codes.
