To my amazement,I discovered a tangled up parachute on South Beach near Whitehaven in West Cumbria in May 2019.It took over an hour to untangle the threads and took it back to the beach when the breezes weren't too strong a few weeks later in order to experiment with its aerodynamic attributes .The parachute readily took to the skies once again and it was necessary to tether the ropes so as to photograph its movements as it harnessed the air currents.I was memorised by its flying motions and antics and felt it had arisen again from its brief watery residence on the tideline. The billowing form also resembled a marine creature such as a jellyfish and I intend to experiment with the parachute in the future in a variety of outdoor locations and contexts.
