Hartshay Palimpsest

By  Lindsey Adams 2006

Martin Rogers

One of a series of paintings that explore the notion of place through time. It records from memory a site of particular meaning (my present surroundings) and relates this to a transcribed local map, creating a palimpsest of place, significance and time. The painting is made using wax and pigment to inhance the illusion of space. The medium is applied to the picture surface with fingertips, to further explore the spatial field.
