Held / Holding explores the shifting relationship between support and constraint. Red fabric stretches across the painted surface, creating physical tension between material and structure. What appears to hold the composition together also restricts and transforms it.
Developed as part of Becoming Image (2026), the work translates the psychological and physical tensions explored through performance into a material form. The fabric becomes both an element of support and a force of resistance, blurring the boundary between painting and object.
