Dimensions
3.6M x 27M

The Heron Gateway Hide forms the entrance and orientation point to the Millennium Wetland at the National Wetland Centre Wales, near Llanelli. This 250 acre wetland creation scheme was part of the Llanelli Millennium Coastal Park initiative. The Heron's form was ideally suited to the building, the open wings gesturally welcoming visitors to the site, also because the Heron is known as the 'watcher of the marshes'. Developed in conjunction with Acanthus Holden Architects and Coed Dinefwr. The locally sourced oak weather-boarding also acts as a large summer roost for several species of bats.
