Holy Writ

By  Robert Foster 2018
Pen, ink and enamel paint on found flip chart paper. To create the series Holy Writ I made a number of alterations and interventions to found sheets of flip chart paper that included notations, scientific equations and graphs. I was mesmerised by the gestural marks and evocative symbols upon the pages that I knew must have significance to those able to decode their meaning, but that remained mystified to myself as an outsider to this knowledge. I regarded the objects as artefacts, led in part by the fragile and aged nature of the paper itself, and made interventions that hope to allude to new spiritual or iconographic meaning, embodying this sense of awe and wonder.
