During the preview the artists nine year old son will sport the ‘Fountain, fountain football kit...’ and will dribble the ‘Fountain, fountain’ football around the exhibition, every now and then he’ll stop and sing ‘let’s go fly a kite’ a capella whilst holding the football either above his head or under his arm.
In addition the performance will be filmed by the artist on his smart phone, and made into a short artist moving image edition.
For the artist this performance seeks to acknowledge two homages toward Marcel Duchamp’s oeuvre and working methods. The first is that he would often get a family member to purchase his readymades and sign them on his behalf, the other is that he invited a couple of young boys to play football at the opening preview of the 1942 ‘...Surrealism Papers’ exhibition instead of his own attendance.
Medium: Durational performance, artists son, bespoke leather football, bespoke child’s football kit with ‘Fountain, fountain veiling fabric’ (bespoke sublimation printed medical grade upholstery), Sunglasses...

All Work and All Play
?
Opening Night: 27th June 6-9pm
Exhibition Continues: 28th June-20th July
At the forefront of this exhibition is the impulse to investigate or play. Taking inspiration from art movements from the 1960’s onwards, we have commissioned 27 UK artists working predominantly in sculpture. These will be interactive sculptures that explore our relationship to art objects and question how we conduct ourselves in a gallery setting and public spaces. Taking place as part of Manifest Arts Festival, we want to create a dialogue between spaces through active audience engagement, live events and workshops. This will be a fully immersive experience that encourages our curiosity and inner child to be unleashed and generate new narratives on what sculpture can be.
