Homoeostasis; fight or flight

A cross-disciplinary project using video, photography and dance-performance, exploring emotional and physical responses to anxiety. The performers are restricted, they are on edge, unbalanced. "A soothing voice blended from two books: advice from Understanding Stress and Anxiety and instructions from Ventriloquism for Beginners. Ventriloquism seems an apt analogy for some of Sarah's work. So much practice and discipline must go into appearing 'natural' as both a dancer - don't pant after running - and as a human being - don't hyperventilate, act cool. One phrase in the Homoeostasis soundtrack kept repeating. It was a description of how to pronounce the sounds 'M' and 'N' without moving your lips '...you have to push your tongue right back into your mouth to throttle back the air... this will give a muffled sound' ".
