If I Could Have One Wish

By  Olivia Irvine 2020
This is a sgraffito, meaning it is made by scratching through a layer of white lime plaster to a layer of black lime plaster below. It depicts an ibrik, which is a Turkish coffee pot, but also has the look of a magical genie lamp. It is part of a series of frescoes made during a micro-residency, 'Life Under Lockdown', subsequently exhibited in the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. The series explores notions of grief and loss.
