Il Tetto/Somewhere . a proposition

This is a proposition to place two works alongside each other under the collaborative partnership of Steve Dutton and Michelle Marie Forrest. Both works compliment and also disrupt each other. The left hand panel is Michelle's piece, which is actually accessible via a browser (screen grabbed here), wherein each viewing encounters a uniquely unfinished pattern generated by an “unproductive algorithm” that ensures the house-puzzle never resolves. Its title is "Il Tetto", referencing the Vittorio Di Sica film of the same name. The right hand panel  one of my own pieces which  emerged  out of conversations with Michelle about the Wizard of Oz.  Thus ambient video takes the opening bars of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" and stretches them to maximum capacity in which the changing screen responds to the sound, glitches and all.  Both pieces concern the impossibility of resolution in finding ‘a place to call home’ .
