(In)tangible

Six 3-meter hand-cut panels of Japanese Mulberry paper hang above a large charcoal floor drawing. 

Each paper panel reflects a walk taken during last summers residency in Grasmere.  Spring water collected from Allan Bank's garden was mixed with tusche to create a series of lithographic drawings. The minerals and particles contained within the spring water influencing the formation of the tusche drawings, the delicate lithographic patterns were then translated into the cut out hanging panels.

The rich black charcoal floor drawing references the ancient woodland and historical legacy of charcoal burning at Allan Bank dating back to the 18th century.
