Lithic Orange

This piece sits somewhere between control and surrender.

A constructed grid holds the surface — measured, intentional, almost architectural — yet the clay refuses to stay contained. It shifts, softens, erodes. The form leans, as if shaped as much by time and pressure as by hand.

The surface carries that tension. Burnt orange slipping into blackened depths, painterly marks that feel unearthed rather than applied. A suggestion of something built… and something breaking down.

I’m interested in that moment — where structure meets instability, where order begins to dissolve.

Part of an ongoing exploration within the BLOCK language, where systems, grids and interruptions become a way of thinking through form.
