Looking Within Without Knowing came from a moment of real transition, not knowing whether I was an artist or just someone who made stuff. This piece shifted that. I am a human in constant change. Who I was yesterday I may not be today.
It began in meditation, turning inward and finding something vast and strange looking back. The central caged eye is consciousness observing itself before it understands what it is. The skulls nod to monks of old, who kept a skull close as a reminder of mortality, not out of fear, but to stop that fear stealing the experience of living.
The gold holds the moments of almost-knowing. Everything else is what the mind builds around the thing it cannot quite see.
