"Love Is In The Air"

By  Joanne Risley 2019
I am interested in the repeated forms that are found within diverse natural elements, linking the microscopic with the monumental. Since I first created an armature for a large spherical sculpture, "Crocus", I have been interested in the geometric possibilities of this form. "Love Is In The Air" represents three giant pollen grains created from the multiplication of a single element built up to form a sphere. They have a menacing quality which appeals to me, having a resemblance to washed up, rusting sea mines.
