Hackney 2007 / Berlin 2008, 2009 photographs, mountboard 30cm x 42.5cm x 2cm £500 One of a series of 6"x4" Single Edition Composites which were developed for an exhibition at a conference hosted by the University of Surrey in Guildford, entitled Mobility and Creativity: Narrative, Representation & Performance, which took place on 3rd - 4th July 2009. Total of seven framed works were exhibited. All photographs measure 6"x4" size, and are one-off/single edition prints. I have paired images that are portraits of the same emotion.. or very different, opposing emotions, or feelings. When I take a photograph I capture not only what is in front of my lens, but also what is behind it. Me. And my state at that moment. In every sense. This makes going through a box of old photographs quite a journey. I also wanted to draw attention to the fact that even when one is travelling, one is never in only one place. Memories creep in. Things or people remind you of others from other times. Or a phone call interrupts. Four more from this series devised for the conference follows.
