Luminary: Portrait of a Surgeon's Daughter

Inspired by Victorian portraiture, this artwork was created to mimic a carte de visite. After researching the history of St Martin-on-the-Hill, Scarborough, it became clear that the lady who took responsibility for the cost of building a new church for the town became invisible over time. No photographs of her have ever been found.
