'Made in Madagascar' is one in the series of works 'Connecting With Gertrude' created on a 15 month residency at Plymouth College of Art.
'Made in Madagascar' includes a stopframe animation that shows the 'unpicking' a woven cloth to reveal a photograph of the cloth. The cloth was made in Madagascar probably under missionary guidance. The Madagascan cloth was collected by the historical female explorer Gertrude Benham. The animation is only activated when someone uses the loom.
