Mapping (tracing terror) consists of two contrasting wall-based pieces Moon Atlas and Timeline. Spanning across nearly a century, the V2 Timeline is a drawing of multiple connections that link world history to individual and family stories. By contrast, Moon Atlas is visually unreadable. The data clearly laid out in Timeline has collapsed to become all-over patterns and fragmented drawings, creating a broken topographical interpretation of terror. The installation is a response to the challenge of visualising sites of suffering and the transmission of memory of past traumatic experiences.
Moon Atlas and Timeline were first shown as part of DORA PROJECT (2015-16) exhibition. The London-based project was a 12 month long cross-generational archiving and participatory project that connected two WW2 sites of terror and its victims. Mittelbau-Dora Nazi concentration camp in Central Germany where more than 20,000 prisoners died assembling V2s and London where 2,500 victims were killed by rocket attacks. DORA PROJECT was realised in collaboration with Rebecca Snow. For more information click Projects.
