Marine Scroll III (Sinken)

By  Doris Rohr 2014 - 2015

Bryan Rutledge

This is the third of the Marine Scrolls - completed over winter 2014 into early 2015 it depicts coastal walks and encounters along County Down. Observational drawings of seashore and coast provide a reflective backdrop to a stream of consciousness narrative in images, interweaving incidents and tragedies of the period. Some media images of disasters are therefore reflecting on current political tragedies like that of refugee boats in Mediterranean, linking with Ruskin's description of Turner's Slave ship. Closely observed details of seabirds and their remnants connect with the feather my pet cockatiels leave me as presents in my home.
