More Canals than Venice

By  Sharon Baker 2022
One of a series of lithographs based on images of my late grandparents' house. They are atmospheric, grainy interior landscapes, intimate spaces with echoes of the people who lived in them. 'More Canals than Venice' depicts a tin metal tray that my brother and I used as children as a table, including in my Wendy House, and it was used regularly by the family. The tray depicts a historical view of the city of Venice, a place that my Grandad was fascinated by though he never had a chance to visit. The title of the print refers to my Grandad's and my home city, Birmingham. Lithograph Edition of 8 printed on Hahnemuhle Worms White 300gsm paper. Image size 18 x 13 cm Printed while on a residency at the graffikwerkstatt Dresden March 2022
