Morrocan Journey: Chris Marshall

By  Peter Grego 2018
In 2017, on a visit to her daughter’s home in Marrakech, photographer Chris Marshall was immediately struck by the extraordinary colour to be found in everyday objects and in the streets and alleyways of the local neighbourhood. She comments that, “behind every dusty doorway lay a haven of tranquility and colour”. Above all, one particular blue left a lasting impression. The colour dominates the gardens of French artist, Jacques Majorelle. The Jardin Majorelle was later owned and restored by fashion designer Yves St Laurent. St Laurent. The photographs presented in the exhibition, Moroccan Journey, are part of a personal visual diary of several walks she made through Marrakech during her visit.
