New departure date

The title for this work ‘New Departure Date’ is something I discovered inscribed on the wooden Typeset Tray which a friend gave me. It seemed like a meaningful phrase to use in relationship to the work I wanted to make as a present for my husband. A departure, from a period of time to another new beginning.

The small forms are all unique and each made from recycled organ pipes. The shapes and forms were developed from previous work and line drawings in my notebooks. Every form is carefully placed in relationship to another, leaving spaces empty to emphasise the internal structure of the Typeset Tray.
