Night Sea Vision - Cow Pasture

This painting is part of a series that followed a visit to the historic cells at Devonport Guildhall and subsequent exhibition there. That set me thinking about the visions and hallucinations that are frequently experienced in states of confinement and sensory deprivation, including when lone sailors are under duress in long distance races. This 'vision of a vision' resulted from reading of the experiences of sailors in such conditions. Materials include ink, charcoal and chalk on Khadi paper.

This is another work from the ongoing 'Correspondences' series, exploring aspects of the digital world, particularly the internet. It's a larger painting than those I previously made using similar, almost 'Pointillist' or 'Divisionist' methods, and the subject matter is to do with a specific connection with a film.
