Nyth

By  Alice Forward 2021
Watercolour on paper, ninth in a series of twelve. During the lockdown years of 2020 and 2021 ash dieback became a massive issue in our area, resulting in an unprecedented frenzy of tree felling. Abandoned birds nests blew around the fields, and piles of brushwood grew like ominous funeral pyres all about. During the enforced quietude and contemplation of life in this period, I became fascinated by the intricacy of the hidden universes within these structures, and made a series of around twenty obsessively detailed watercolour paintings.
